premise.

It's the usual story: you're at home, in battle, at a friend's house, in bed, when suddenly and inexplicably, you fall unconscious. When you come to, you find yourself in a corporate, no-nonsense setting with suits swarming in and out--but you can only see them from your snug little containment unit. You're left waiting for a few minutes, but it feels like hours before a staunch-looking man with unsteady eyes comes to greet you.

"Welcome to the Dark Hour Experiment," he says solemnly. "You have been chosen to take part."

And so you have. You're informed that you've been given a power called a persona through artificial means, a power that can only be summoned by shooting yourself in the temple using a pistol-shaped weapon called an evoker. Your task, he tells you, is to be thrust onto an island where a phenomenon called the Dark Hour occurs at twelve o' clock every night. You can choose to fight the shadows--or monsters that come alive during the midnight hour--or you can choose to resist the experiment and eventually fall to your doom. He doesn't tell you, however, about the other dangers involving the experiment: about how the artificial personae are unstable, and you may need potentially lethal medication to keep them under control. About how the shadows may not be the only enemies lurking in the darkness.

The seconds to midnight are ticking away. It's up to you to choose your fate.

faq.

Q. What is Persona?
A. It's a game series in which a specific group of people (usually high school students) are able to summon facets of their souls used as battle proxies in order to fight for justice.

Q. I don't know anything about Persona. How will I pick out my persona and its abilities?
A. You will choose your brand of power (fire/ice/wind/lightning magic, healing, physical, and information-gathering) based on your character. For example, Axel from Kingdom Hearts would be more likely to have fire magic due to his character in the game. Upon acceptance, your character will be assigned a persona and a list of likely moves for it to have.

Q. How does my character summon his/her persona?
A. Upon arrival, they will be given an evoker, or a handgun-shaped device that the character uses to shoot him/herself in the head. Morbid, I know, but it's the only means of drawing out one's persona.

Q. Can I apply for a Persona character?
A. Sure! Canon Persona characters will just be put on the island with their ordinary personae, and the protagonist characters will have their universal powers intact.

Q. My character has super abilities/magic/etc. Can he/she keep them when he/she comes to the island?
A. No. For all intents and purposes, the bestowal of a persona strips a character of his/her powers.

Q. How do the characters communicate?
A. Along with their evokers, they will be given communicators that allow characters to communicate with each other, though each one is tapped by the lording group that has given them the powers for research purposes. They can be used to send video, voice, and text posts.

Q. Is there any way off the island?
A. No. The group takes good care to make sure that none of their subjects can leave.

Q. Who is this "group"?
A. A nameless organisation bent on extracting all researchable information about the dark hour and its inhabitants using your characters as guinea pigs. They're heartless and business-minded, but not always above negotiation--if you think you have anything to offer them that they would be willing to trade for.

Q. What's the deal with this medication?
A. Unnatural personae are volatile and dangerous to the users. Thus, medication is necessary to suppress the power to keep the user from dying. However, the medication itself is fairly dangerous, though addicting. It's available everywhere, but it's up to your character whether or not he wants to use it--though it comes highly recommended.

Q. Where will my character live?
A. The setting is an enormous, uninhabited city aside from your character and the others that have been taken. So, there will obviously be hotels, apartments, houses, and all sorts of lodgings available to the characters. Grocery stores, too, and other sorts of boutiques line the city, but they are devoid of clerks. Group members restock them on a weekly basis.

Q. My question hasn't been answered on this page. What do I do?
A. Just ask here! If there's anything we've left out, feel free to address it.

rules.

I. Please be civil. We're all here to have fun, and it's difficult to do that when someone is trying to cause drama or wank. If you have problems with another player, please try to work it out outside of the community; if things get too out of hand, however, the moderators are here to help work out any dissension within the game.

II. OOC is not IC. No godmodding. No powerplaying. Please understand the basic rules of roleplay before you apply. If you have any questions of this sort, you can contact the mod for assistance.

III. This is a serious roleplay. As such, all character interactions should be as in-character as possible.

IV. Always ask permission before including another person's character in a plot or interaction. With that in mind, please ask the moderators before proceeding with important player-made plots or deaths.

V. When using communicators, please specify whether your character is utilising "voice", "video", or "text" in your subject heading. Communicator and first person posts will be posted in the main community, logs in the log community, and all other miscellaneous, ooc posts in the ooc community. Please do not post oocly in either of the ic communities.

VI. When your character is accepted into the game, he/she will be given a tag in the main and log community. Please use these tags each and every time you make a post with that character.

VII. At the moment, there is a limit of 3 characters per player.

VIII. When you are out for any long period of time, please inform the rest of the game by going on hiatus via the ooc community. Anyone out for an undue period of time without warning will be removed from the roleplay in order to make room for other potential applicants.
